Day 22 - Chinese Herbal Jelly

Today's lesson was at 1pm.
Lunch was held at 12 noon.
And I had noodles.
I miss the noodles back home in Singapore.

Handmade soup noodles.

After lessons...
A couple of us headed over to the back alley just to get some snacks.
And dinner was held at 6.30pm
This time round..
Mr. Wong brought us to another restaurant nearby the hostel.

Ordering the food.

Dinner spread.

Overall we ordered 6 dishes.
I thought all the food was really yummy.
And it's really worth the money.
Thanks Mr. Wong for the recommendation.

After dinner.
Fran. Seok, Xiang Yu, Mr Wong and I went to have some herbal jelly at the back alley.
I ordered the red bean herbal jelly.
And I felt that the raisin red bean that Xiang Yu ordered was quite nice too!

Some background knowledge of the herbal jelly.

The shop's signboard.

What we ordered...

Xiang Yu's red bean with raisin.

Mine!

Here is some information I found on the internet about the Chinese Herbal Jelly...

Gui Ling Gao is also known as Chinese Herbal Jelly.
It is an old traditional medicine product from China / Hong Kong.
It is made from shells from turtles and Chinese herbal medicine, mainly the Smilaux glabra(China roots).
It is recommended as a popular health food among the young and old.
Accepted widely for its benefits when one is faced with physical and mental fatigue, it is also highly recommended to be consumed on a regular basis as a Chinese dessert.
